Happy 50th Merdeka Malaysia

It was Malaysian 50th Merdeka celebration last friday. There were lots of fireworks, singing and parties the night before (tough I didn't go to any of them). Just watching it from my apartment and TV. So what does a merdeka means to you? Are we really free and merdeka from everything or we are still being "locked" and colonized in an invisible ways via our mind and soul?

I am looking at myself to answer that. Since I was a baby, I was free actually at least on the physical way. And you cannot deny that I was given the opportunity to learn and acquire knowledge as much as I want to. I had never being deny my rights to the food and way of living that I like. However, of course as you grow up u'll see that there are still few things being locked away from you unless you'll follow the system in place. which some of us may not want too. The media I feel may still be partially colonised by certain party. The way of thinking for most of us are still being "guide" by certain rules and views pertaining certain sides. Thus in that sense we are not fully Merdeka.

However, I love this country. I felt it in my heart when watching the morning Merdeka parade in TV especially when the armies turn to show the strength and muscle power of our soldiers. How our forefathers fight for the freedom of this country. May Allah bless us with rahmat, forgiveness and prosperities. Remember the "Sabak" a mentioned in the Quran, on how they were the people with prosperity and wealth, yet they kufur to Allah. Then Allah punished them with bad land and all.
